Keenen’s Priorities and thoughts about:
-
It is not just the responsibility, but the moral obligation of a government, as well as a generation, to pass on better conditions to our inheritors than what was once had. In any way that I can, I will support reducing the cost of common living essentials such as housing, power, water, transportation, medicine and food in order to better serve the people of Texas.
The rising cost of medicine, homes, rent, cars, insurance rates, groceries, and many other essentials is, if nothing else, proof that our representatives and institutions have been failing us. For many, these failures have effectively pushed “The American Dream” out of reach. I intend to rectify any piece of legislation that has failed the constituents of district 2 and Texans as a whole.

There is nothing more important than your health. Period. Through extensive collaboration with healthcare experts, I intend to find and/ or support solutions that makes healthcare more affordable and accessible for everyone. I will also support reforms in healthcare systems that provides transparency as it pertains to costs.
Watch out, insurance companies. Your days of predatory practices are numbered. Healthcare should work for people, not profits.

I went through the public school system in Texas. Additionally, my mother has been a career-long juvenile detention officer for over 20 years. I know first-hand how formative and impactful education is at a young age, as well as how severely it can fail a child through inaccessibility or a lack of resources.
Whether they have set their aspirations for college or are eager to learn a trade and join the workforce, every child is deserving of access to a high-quality education. Period.
Improving our school system is inarguably necessary for a more prosperous future for Texas and following generations. That requires funding, developing, attracting, and retaining high performing educators. That also requires accountability and transparency in costs, allocated resources, and pay. While we, as a collective, perpetuate voucher schemes for wealthy families to receive a discount on a private education that they could likely already afford with ease, a lot of our public education funds are not even being distributed to school districts that need them.
The work done by educators, as well as school administrators, is incredibly valuable to our community and I enthusiastically support significant, performance-based increases in pay that is congruent with the cost of living. Furthermore, higher education has become exponentially more expensive over time. I support increased transparency in college pricing.
It’s time we treat education like what it truly is: an investment.

I’m committed to remaining engaged with the constituents of district 2 as best I can, not just for the election race, but for as long as I hold the office. I see it as the only way to truly remain accountable to constituents whether they vote for me, against me, or not at all. That involves committing to being accessible, meeting people where they are, and staying abreast on the issues that matter most to district 2. Regardless of political party affiliation or personal opinion, I am committed to listening to what the people of district 2 have to say.
I also want to make one thing perfectly clear: REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL AFFILIATION, we are all ONE TEXAS and ONE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I believe it is the duty of ANYONE elected to represent ALL of their constituents, not just the ones that supported them. It is not enough, in my opinion, to only listen to voters when a candidate wants their vote. It is, instead, imperative that those who are entrusted by the public to hold office, remain continuously engaged in order to provide the best possible representation and remain accountable.
So… if you are a resident of district 2 and have a different opinion or affiliation than me: Reach out! I’d be happy to have a conversation with you.
